Pear blueberry coconut milk smoothie




This is one incredibly delicious and filling smoothie . It brings to you goodness in a cup, from the anti oxidant powers of blueberries.The humble pear is a cancer fighting fruit. It has good amounts of immune  boosting Vitamin C and Vitamin K. The high fiber content of pear helps you stay full for a longer period.

Coconut milk, derived from coconuts, one of the most nutritious foods on the planet, is a good source of Lauric Acid, which is a medium chain saturated fatty acid. It is anti viral in nature.

Try out this smoothie, and reap in the health benefits.

Ingredients:

Fruits:

Organic pear- 1 (chopped in halves, seeds removed)
Organic blueberries- a handful

Protein:

1 heaped scoop of Organic Vanilla protein powder

Fats:

Organic Flaxseed oil- 1 tbsp
It has more of the anti inflammatory Omega-3 fatty acids, in comparison to the Omega-6 and Omega-9's

Liquid Base:

Organic coconut milk- 1 cup

It makes a great base for smoothies. It is a good choice for folks, who are sensitive to dairy, as well as vegans. Who would want to miss out on the incredible nutrition that it provides?

Optional flavoring choices:

Cardamom seeds/powder- a pinch
Cinnamon powder- a pinch
Nutmeg powder- a pinch

Feel free to add any of these healthy flavoring options for your smoothie


Preparation:

In a blender, add all the ingredients, and blend until smooth.

Serve chilled, or enjoy it right away.


Notes:

1. Feel free to add in some nutritious greens of your choice. Kale, spinach, arugula greens etc are some healthy choices.
2. Folks who do not have any allergy/intolerance to nuts , could try adding in a handful of soaked almonds, walnuts, pistachios, or some fresh nut butters to boost the nutritive value. Adding nuts/nut butters would be a great way to boost the caloric intake as well.
