Banana-strawberry hemp milk smoothie

This is a very healthy smoothie packing the nutrition punch provided by the tiny hemp seeds, and the anti oxidant, cancer fighting properties of plump juicy strawberries.

A word of caution about conventional strawberries: The EWG has released its list of "Dirty Dozen" for the year 2018, and strawberries have been confirmed by testing to contain the maximum amount of pesticide residues. So, it would be definitely worth to buy organic.

Hemp seeds are rich in healthy fats and essential fatty acids. It is a complete protein source, due to its amino acid profile.

Let's take a look at the ingredients in this amazingly healthful smoothie

Fruits:

Banana - 1 (chopped to bits)
Strawberries- 5 to 6 strawberries

Fats:

MCT oil- 1 tbsp

This is a healthy source of Medium Chain triglycerides, sourced from coconuts.It is metabolised in the liver, and is one of the heart-healthy saturated fats

Protein powder:

Garden of Life Unflavored protein powder- 1 heaping tablespoon.

You could use your choice of organic non GMO protein powder, to enhance the nutritive value of this smoothie

Liquid base:

Homemade hemp milk- 2 cups

This milk is made from 2 ingredients- organic hemp seeds and filtered water. You can add in some healthy spices, like cloves, nutmeg, or elaichi for some flavor.

Sweetener:

Medjool Dates- 2 (pitted)

Adding a sweetener is purely optional. Dates are a very good source of iron.

Preparation:

In a blender, pour 2 cups of the hemp milk. Add in all the solid ingredients, and blend until smooth.

This yummy smoothie is ready to be enjoyed, as is , or can be chilled, to be had later.

Notes:

1. The liquid base for this smoothie could be any dairy or non dairy milks.
