Banana blueberry bliss smoothie

Banana blueberry bliss smoothie

This is one healthy smoothie that can be made in a jiffy. The organic blueberries added, pack in quite an antioxidant punch. The elegant blueberry is a potent cancer fighting food. The added benefits from consuming blueberries are that it helps in reducing the inflammation levels in the body.

The banana added gives it a hint of sweetness, without being too overtly sweet.

Let's proceed to the recipe

Ingredients:

Fruits:
Banana-1
Organic blueberries-1/2 a cup

Protein:

1 heaped scoop of Organic Pumpkin seed protein powder (I used the Sprout Living Brand). This protein powder has a tendency to settle down at the bottom. Make sure to blend really well and

Fats:

Organic flax seed oil- 1 tbsp (This gives the much needed Omega-3 fats)

Liquid Base:

Homemade Coconut milk -2 cups
Coconut milk is one of the sources of a very good fat-Lauric acid. This fat can be easily absorbed by the body for energy.

Preparation:

In a Vitamix blender, add all the ingredients and blend until smooth.

Serve chilled or you may enjoy it right it out of the blender.

Notes:

1. Feel free to add in your choice of organic greens to enhance the nutritive value.
2. Folks with oxalate sensitivity issues cold substitute arugula greens or Lacinate kale in place of organic spinach. These are good low oxalate options.
3. This smoothie tastes delicious with a mix of different berries as well-blackberries, strawberries or raspberries
4. Medjool dates or organic honey could be added for more sweetness.
5. Feel free to use your choice of liquid base for the smoothie.
6. The Pumpkin seed protein powder has a tendency to settle down at the bottom. Make sure to blend really well and drink up quickly.
